We are taught to see a symbol that represents everything we believe in as Americans. No one said anything about gun lobbys and the NRA making policy through money. To us this symbol represents apathy on the part of our lawmakers that has led to thousands of dead children killed through gun violence. It represents the assault riffles and hand guns that are killing us. It represents our lawmakers who do not care enough after Columbine and Sandy Hook and all the other mass shootings to do anything to prevent 17 more dead children and countless lives shattered in Parkland. Help us believe something different. There must be change, and it must happen now!
As we all know semi-automatic military grade assault rifles have always been part of that "Great American Pioneer Spirit". No they have not been, ever! They should only be in the hands of our military personnel PERIOD! And if anyone tries to say differently, then there's the first candidate for the "No Buy List".

When asked by Stoneman Douglas student Cameron Kasky if he would stop accepting donations from the National Rifle Association, Rubio answered indirectly. The NRA has spent more than $3 million on Rubio’s behalf through its political arm, and has given Rubio an A-plus rating, The Washington Post’s Sean Sullivan has reported. Michael Laughlin/Reuters
You just passed a $1.3 TRILLION spending bill. Where is the money for school security? Nowhere! You protected yourselves in all federal buildings, why can't you protect us in our schools? Can we have one of these President Trump...?
"ARE YOUR GUNS MORE PRECIOUS THAN OUR LIVES"
Pick any number you want, after any school shooting, and its too many. But for our elected officials, its still not enough. When will it be enough for you?
Sound familiar, well it should. Its the same message that some of you screamed during the war and violence of the 1960's and 70's. And those of you who were there screaming then, are now lawyers and judges and politicians. We can't believe you sold out to lobbyists and the NRA. You should all be ashamed of the people you've let yourselves become.
The Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Act (the Federal Assault Weapons Ban) was enacted as part of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. The prohibitions expired on September 13, 2004.
These were reported on December 17th 2012, three days after an introverted 20-year-old with a form of autism who often accompanied his mother to a gun range, shot and killed her in her bed, then took her semiautomatic rifle and two handguns into nearby Sandy Hook Elementary School. He killed 20 first graders, four teachers, a psychologist and the school’s principal, then shot himself to death as police arrived.
